Getting Vaccinated Against Hepatitis A

What is Hepatitis A vaccine?

Provides 70-90% protection against typhoid infection.
It is given as an injection in two doses with 6 to 8 month apart.
It gives longtimes protection.

Who should get Hepatitis A vaccine?

Is recommended for persons 1 years of age and older

Travelers to areas with high rates of Hepatitis A infections (Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe).
Children living in areas with high rates of Hepatitis A
Sewage workers
Intravenous drug users
Food caterers or handlers especially restaurants, stalls, canteen owners and workers to reduce risks of infection
Persons with chronic liver disease
Persons with clotting factor disorder
Men who have sex with men

Where can I get vaccinated?

Any private health clinics or hospitals
Consult your doctor for more information
