What is RIE Hearing Aid?
RIE is a type of hearing aid which has its receiver or speaker located in the ear canal. It is an innovation from behind-the-ear hearing aid to render high quality sound through a smaller device. The device is usually worn with a dome or an insert eartip. Anyway, it can also be coupled with an earmold pertaining to the severity of hearing loss.
Who Can Preferably Use RIE Hearing Aid?
- People who have been diagnosed with hearing loss varying from mild to severe in severity.
- The device is not advisable for people with profound hearing loss.
- Individual with ample ear size and does not possess small or narrow ear canal.
- People who prioritizes cosmetic appeal especially the youths or individuals with active lifestyle.

Please consult any trained audiologist. You will be given hearing aid trial before selecting suitable hearing aid.
What are the correct ways to care for RIE hearing aid?
- Avoid dropping the device or to come in contact with any liquid.
- Keep the hearing aid in the drying beaker after removing the battery. Failure to remove battery may lead to formation of rust in the device.
- Changing eartip or dome is recommended annually if it is broken or as part of good hygiene practice.
- Hearing aid should be serviced every 6 months once.
What should you do to a faulty RIE hearing aid?
- Send your hearing aid to hearing aid centre for service or repair.
- Check your hearing aid’s warranty period. The repairing cost is usually covered by hearing aid supplier within the warranty period unless the damage is caused by user’s carelessness.
